The best method to get the latest Steam client available for Windows 7 (November 8, 2024):

1. ⁠Download Steam from the official website, run the installer.
2. ⁠Let it download the latest version and complain about unsupported OS.
3. Delete everything from „packages” folder, then run Steam again. Now, it should download the correct version from November 2024.
4. ⁠At the end, I would recommend adding „-pretendeol-w10” to the shortcut path to get rid of win7 end of support message.

That’s all. I also recommend blocking client updates (steam.cfg file) to avoid problems in the future. Have fun!
